Custom Homes Built for Cedar Mountain Living

Cedar Mountain is a small, deeply forested community south of Brevard, sitting higher and cooler than its neighbors just a few miles from the North Carolina–South Carolina line. It’s the “heart of the hamlet” — quiet, private, and immersed in nature, next to DuPont State Forest and Jones Gap.

We build secluded mountain homes here for buyers who want privacy and forest, and who value a builder that knows how to handle steep, wooded, high-elevation lots.

The Land Around Cedar Mountain

At roughly 2,700 feet, Cedar Mountain is the highest of the towns we serve, with steep, heavily wooded Blue Ridge terrain along US-276. These are challenging, beautiful lots — site access, driveways, grading, retaining walls, and erosion control are central to building well here.

Building Considerations in Transylvania County

High elevation and steep, wooded lots mean careful attention to driveway access, grading, and retaining walls (sealed designs required over four feet in Transylvania County). Rural and unincorporated, Cedar Mountain relies on well and septic with Environmental Health approval, and erosion-control planning is required for larger disturbances.

Why Build in Cedar Mountain?

Cedar Mountain offers seclusion and cooler, higher-elevation living immersed in forest, with easy access to DuPont State Forest, waterfalls, and even South Carolina’s Jones Gap and Jocassee areas. It’s ideal for a private retreat or second home.

Common Questions

Building a Custom Home in Cedar Mountain

Do you build on steep, high-elevation lots in Cedar Mountain?

Yes — that’s much of what building here involves. At around 2,700 feet with steep wooded terrain, we plan for site access, grading, retaining walls, and erosion control from the very start.

Can you build in the Sherwood Forest community?

Yes. Sherwood Forest is an established mountain community in Cedar Mountain with extensive green space and amenities, and we build there as well as on private, secluded parcels.

Is Cedar Mountain a good spot for a private retreat?

Very much so. It’s quiet, forested, and higher and cooler than surrounding towns, right next to DuPont State Forest — a natural fit for a secluded second home or retreat.
